Matthias Maurer is a German astronaut affiliated with the European Space Agency (ESA). After earning a degree in Material Science from Saarland University and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Maurer joined ESA’s astronaut program in 2015.
In November 2021, Matthias Maurer made his mark as part of the ESA’s Cosmic Kiss mission, where he embarked on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS). During his time on the ISS, he conducted vital experiments in fields like material science, biology, and Earth observation, contributing significantly to our understanding of space and its impact on humans.
