Responsible decarbonization of the fertilizer production value chain: innovation and sustainability (OCP Group)
Fertilizers play a crucial role in ensuring global food security. OCP Group, a pioneer in plant nutrition solutions and the world’s largest provider of phosphate-based fertilizers, is actively working to simultaneously accelerate progress towards two of the UN’s sustainable development goals: Zero Hunger and Climate Action.
The session will shed light on OCP’s decarbonization strategy, outlining its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in both its operations and energy sources (scopes 1 and 2) by 2030, and extending this commitment to its products and their use (scope 3) by 2040. Special emphasis will be placed on the Green Ammonia program, a flagship initiative led and developed by INNOVX. This multidisciplinary company is dedicated to building innovative and sustainable businesses and ecosystems and is affiliated with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), which was established by OCP and is oriented towards applied research and innovation in Africa. The discussion will then delve into the pivotal role of a research university such as UM6P, in addressing the challenges of climate change in Morocco and Africa.
