Convergences: Building Sustainable Food Systems via Productive Use of Renewable Energy Solutions (SNV, GOGLA, Power For All))
The SNV, GOGLA, and Power For All session will unpack a ground-up perspective on the nexus between Sustainable Food Systems and Productive Use of Renewable Energy (PURE). Particularly, it will explore nexus practices that bring to the fore localization, decentralized ownership, value chain strengthening support, and the need for innovative financial and delivery models for farmers, notably for women and youth whose role is often underestimated. Building from “on-the-ground” and end-user centric examples from both agriculture and energy experiences, the session will deep dive into (i) PURE potential to transform African food systems, (ii) relevant market conditions to accelerate adoption (and those that hinder it), and (iii) ongoing interventions to tackle barriers to adoption and access for different actors (successes and failures). The session’s solution-oriented learnings and call to action will feed into the Food Systems Pavilion in COP28 and other sessions shaped by SNV, GOGLA, and PowerForAll.
