PFAN’s journey – celebrating the USD 2 billion milestone and where to go from here?
The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) bridges the gap between project developers and investors by supporting entrepreneurs to develop bankable projects, mitigating investor risk, and mainstreaming investments in low carbon, climate resilient projects for sustainable development.
This is implemented by a global network of more than 130 locally based climate and clean energy financing experts, advising low-carbon, climate resilient businesses in developing countries and matching projects to appropriate private financing. We are approaching a milestone with PFAN, with USD 2 billion of investment being mobilized by PFAN-supported projects.
This is not where the action stops and we have the ambition to further grow PFAN and continue our journey to scale-up further and create greater transformative impacts. We are seeing growing project submissions in climate adaptation, signaling long-term opportunities for PFAN and are penetrating new markets in SSA and relatively unexplored markets like the SIDS. We do this by leveraging partnerships and growing linkages to financing instruments, supported by a diverse group of donors.
This session will bring together representatives of the key stakeholders groups (project developers, PFAN advisors, investors and donors) to reflect on the future positioning of PFAN and have a dialogue on how PFAN can stay relevant and future-proof.
Project origination and development is more important than ever to create compelling climate investment opportunities to mobilize climate finance, reduce GHG emissions, contribute to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals and empower and accelerate a just transition.
