48er-Tandler & Municipal Re-Use Shop
This event takes you on a tour to learn about the municipal solid waste management and a guided tour through the sorting plant for re-usable items. After that, you will visit the 48er-Tandler which is the Viennese old goods market.
The 48er-Tandler offers exclusive unique items with a history. The colorful assortment comes from drop-offs at Vienna’s garbage tips, where intact items are collected separately in the “Tandler Box”. Every year, around 130,000 still usable items are handed in at the garbage tips. In addition, unclaimed items from the lost property service and items no longer needed by various municipal departments of the City of Vienna are also collected. During the tour, you will have a look around the sorting plant and stroll through the market itself. Before the tour, you will have the possibility to attend a presentation on municipal solid waste management, where you also have the possibility to ask all the questions you might have about this process.
