Keynote Speeches: Green Jobs in Focus

With the rising drastic impacts of climate change comes the urgent need for a call of action. Young people are not only experiencing the consequences of climate change but are also actively engaged in climate action. As nations work towards limiting global warming to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels, investments in solutions will lead to green job opportunities. By 2030, green policy measures can create 8.4 million jobs for young people. In this regard, it is important for young ambitious people to be aware of the skills necessary that can secure them access to jobs in the field of sustainable development. Current policymakers, diplomats, employers and educators need to be active agents for supporting young people for access to these green jobs.
The session ‘Green jobs in focus’ being the first event with keynotes at the Youth Solution Days aims to set the stage for encouraging youngsters to prepare themselves for the green jobs industry. In this session, high-level experts from key organizations will share their insights about what skills and jobs await youngsters in the field of climate and energy. The session aims to provide a foundation for the youth to best prepare themselves for the jobs they are aiming for. In the Q&A part, youngsters themselves will have an opportunity to engage with the honorable speakers for further discussions.
